Development Intern, Research and Fundraising

Position Description
World Food Program USA is seeking a fall intern to support the needs of the Development department.  We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, and stay with us through the fall semester (December 2010).  Ability to work 25-40 hours preferred. 
 
The intern will gain valuable experience working with nonprofit organizations, fundraising, and hunger issues, on a friendly, hard-working team.  
 
Essential Functions
 
1. Support the organization’s online giving presence by managing projects currently on the web and researching and writing new projects. The intern will have the opportunity to publish pieces on the web under his/her name.
2. Conduct donor research, reporting and other support for Director of Major Gifts and Director of Corporate Gifts.
3. Provide phone support to donors.
4. Support volunteer fundraisers and related projects.
5. Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned. 
 
Qualifications
 
1. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
2. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills. 
3. Ability to organize time and work independently, follow directions, and complete tasks in an effective manner.
4. Interest in humanitarian aid/international development and non-profit organizations.

Donor Support Intern

Position Description
 
WFP USA is seeking an intern to support the needs of the Development and Fundraising department. We are looking for someone to work 25-40 hours per week, starting in August and staying with us throughout the fall, with the option to extend with review. The intern will gain valuable experience working with nonprofit organizations, fundraising, and hunger issues, on a friendly, hard-working team.  
 
Essential Functions
 
1. Process incoming donations and acknowledgments to donors. 
2. Maintain information inbox and provide email and phone support to donors.   
3. Complete donor and donor stewardship-related research.
4. Assist in the analysis and implementation of donor stewardship activities.
5. Carry out other duties as assigned. 
 
Qualifications
 
1. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills.
2. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.  
3. Ability to organize time, work independently, follow directions, and complete tasks in an
    effective manner.
4. Acute attention to detail and ability to manage several projects at once.
5. Interest in humanitarian aid/international development and non-profit organizations.
